Mechanical Engineering Team Lead / Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Baltimore, MD
A well-established multidisciplinary engineering and architecture consulting firm is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Team Lead to oversee the day-to-day operations of its Baltimore-based mechanical engineering group while continuing to contribute in a senior technical capacity.
This leadership position offers the opportunity to mentor engineers, support project delivery, coordinate resources, and help drive quality, consistency, and growth across a diverse portfolio of building projects.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Resource Management
- Lead and support the mechanical engineering team within the Baltimore office.
- Assist with workload planning, staffing assignments, and resource allocation.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Project Leadership & Technical Oversight
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams in the design and execution of building systems projects.
- Oversee HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design efforts across a variety of market sectors.
- Review engineering documents for technical accuracy, completeness, and code compliance.
- Serve as Engineer of Record on applicable projects.
- Provide solutions to complex technical challenges and ensure consistency in project delivery.
Client & Internal Collaboration
- Partner with clients to understand project objectives and ensure successful outcomes.
- Coordinate closely with internal engineering disciplines and project teams.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimation efforts.
- Represent the mechanical engineering group in project meetings and strategic planning discussions.
Quality, Performance & Innovation
- Promote adherence to established quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Encourage continuous improvement in engineering processes and project execution.
- Stay current with industry trends, sustainable design practices, and emerging technologies.
- Support the adoption and utilization of BIM, Revit, and energy modeling tools.
- Encourage professional development, licensure, and career growth within the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's Degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; ability to obtain Maryland licensure through comity if currently licensed in another state.
- 16 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, project delivery, and team leadership.
- Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for buildings.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and mentoring engineering staff.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related design software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required.

Salary : $150,000 - $220,000
