Ggiata Delicatessen is a New Jersey style Italian deli serving big, delicious sandwiches on the freshest breads, salads, and house-made desserts. We have five locations in the LA area with more to come. All of our food is fresh — our sauces, spreads, and salad dressings are made in house, as are our biscuits, cakes, and cookies. Porter/Packager
The Porter/Packager is a flexible, hands-on role at the heart of Ggiata's daily operations. We're looking for someone who is efficient, organized, self-motivated, and totally reliable.
Responsibilities Include:
- Packages large portions of cooked and prepped items into containers, dating and labeling them accurately
- Receives, temperatures, puts away, and organizes incoming inventory
- Assists the Pastry team with prep tasks such as scooping cookie dough
- Packs food and desserts for daily distribution to sister restaurants, ready for departure by 6am
- Counts and tracks inventory with attention to accuracy
- Performs dishwashing and cleaning tasks to maintain the sanitary standards of our commissary
Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 60 lbs
- Ability to work early morning shifts reliably (4am-12:30pm)
- Must be able to read and write in English (Spanish speaking is a bonus)
- Comfortable using technology for inventory and labeling tasks
- Capable of working in a hot, humid, and sometimes noisy environment
- Some prior kitchen or food production experience preferred; training will be provided
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to cleanliness and food safety
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks at once
- Good communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Desire to be helpful and jump in where needed
