Position Overview
As the Kitchen Manager (KM), you’ll play a vital role in leading our back-of-house (BOH) operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you’ll ensure smooth kitchen operations, exceptional food quality, and a safe, organized work environment. You’ll also develop and inspire your team, fostering a culture of professionalism, accuracy, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all kitchen operations, including prep, line execution, food quality, sanitation, safety practices, equipment care, and overall kitchen organization.
- Train, coach, and support kitchen team members to meet performance standards and build confidence in their roles.
- Identify and develop high-potential team members to support internal growth and future BOH leadership needs.
- Partner with the General Manager on staffing, scheduling, labor planning, hiring, onboarding, and team culture.
- Manage prep levels, inventory, waste, and ordering to maintain food costs and prevent outages.
- Ensure the kitchen adheres to health department and company standards for cleanliness and compliance.
- Collaborate with FOH and leadership to support smooth service, address issues proactively, and provide solutions.
- Uphold company policies, including uniform standards, cellphone use, safety practices, and operational expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years in kitchen leadership, ideally as a Kitchen Manager or similar role in hospitality.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities to lead teams and collaborate across departments. Conversational Spanish is a plus.
- Adaptability: Comfortable navigating changing priorities and fast-paced environments.
- Physical Endurance: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb stairs for extended periods (up to 10 hours per day). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and carry items at least 10 feet.
- Passion for Hospitality: A commitment to exceptional service and the ability to thrive during long or physically demanding shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with prep lists, pars, ordering platforms, inventory tools, vendor management, and basic equipment maintenance.
