G.G. Schmitt & Sons, a division of Patrick Industries and leading manufacturer of Stainless Steel and Aluminum original equipment for the boat building industry, has an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and self-disciplined Accounting/Finance Manager.
The successful candidate will be based out of Sarasota, Florida and will manage the finance/accounting department functions and will provide information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future. They will be preparing, compiling, and analyzing the company's financial records and statements and will execute a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, forecasting and budgeting.
Essential Functions
- Maintain an adequate system of accounting and payroll records designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results
- Execute timely monthly month-end closing activities, ad hoc financial and operational performance reporting
- Enter accounting and payroll related information into business systems, perform monthly bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and journal entries to meet corporate deadlines
- Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards
- Works with the Corporate Office to prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and recommending plans to Business Unit Leaders
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
- Provides status of financial condition and operational performance by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to the Corporate Office
- Facilitate quarterly physical inventory (organize count process, ERP upload and analysis)

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business-related field.
- 4 – 6 years of increasing responsibility in financial reporting, accounting and hands-on managerial experience in Manufacturing Job Shop Environment.
- Ability to quickly adapt communications in a variety of settings to meet the unique needs of multiple audiences.
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting/financial applications.
- Software experience with E2 Manufacturing, Blackline Reconciliation Software, OneStream, Tagetik, Excel (experienced with pivot tables, formulas, macros, Vlookups), and Manufacturing ERP systems preferred.
- Strong conceptual, critical thinking, analytical, quantitative skills, ability to problem solve and the ability to assess technical questions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as part of a cross-functional team and be self-motivated.
