What are the responsibilities and job description for the SAP Basis Services position at GForce Life Sciences?
Our client, a pharmaceutical inhalation delivery system technology company focused on powering the next generation of inhalation delivery system therapies, has engaged GForce Life Sciences to provide a SAP Basis Services Offering consultant. This position will report to the IT Director within the IT department. This individual will be responsible for the coordination, oversight, and advisory support related to the RISE with SAP S/4HANA landscape.
Duties / Expectations of Role
- Coordination with SAP for tenant provisioning, connectivity setup, and oversight of system readiness and environment maintenance activities.
- Support and guide Transpire Bio on SAP cloud infrastructure topics, including alignment with RISE with SAP deployment principles. This includes advisory input on system setup, connectivity, and coordination with SAP as needed.
- Setting up and maintaining monitoring and alerting mechanisms. SAP manages system uptime and core health checks under RISE with SAP Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Transport management oversight, including import queue movement for approved functional or technical changes.
- Ad-hoc routine system configuration activities (for example, client open/close and system parameter checks).
- Proactive review of SAP service requests, early warnings, and system advisories and coordination of response with SAP.
- Coordination with SAP’s RISE support team for issue triage, escalation, and follow-up as required.
- Advisory input on Basis best practices, environment management, and cloud connectivity to ensure system health and compliance with RISE SLAs.
- Support during planned maintenance windows or release events to coordinate with SAP and functional teams as required.
- User provisioning for existing roles in the landscape based on predefined and approved templates, subject to customer security approvals & SoD (Segregation of Duties) checks.
Excluded Items from AMS Scope:
The following items are excluded from this AMS scope and remain the responsibility of SAP, or other third parties as applicable:
- Provision, installation, and services related to hardware, software, and licenses, networking, desktop systems, and other infrastructure management.
- Design or redesign of user roles, authorization concepts, SoD (Segregation of Duties) analysis, or access policies (these activities are part of project or security design work, not AMS).
- Client will be responsible for handling key IT activities required during the project, including initial user and role setup, system access provisioning, coordination with SAP for tenant provisioning, and connectivity setup.
- Performance tuning, OS-level system management, or infrastructure maintenance such as release upgrades, support pack upgrades, or patches, which are owned by SAP under RISE standard services.
- SAP remains responsible for system provisioning, uptime, disaster recovery, and core infrastructure security under RISE with SAP.
- Basis or security support at the OS level (standard services covered by SAP ECS (Enterprise Cloud Services) under RISE with SAP S/4HANA, Private Cloud Edition).
- Integration support or connectivity setup with other non-SAP applications, third-party monitoring tools, or external interfaces.
- Project-specific implementation, configuration, or development work beyond standard AMS activities.
- Training, audit support beyond evidence sharing, or documentation sessions except where incidental to AMS.
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in SAP Basis with RISE with SAP S/4HANA landscapes.
- SAP applications
- Basis AMS will primarily focus on providing coordination, oversight, and advisory support related to the RISE with SAP S/4HANA landscape.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
