Position Summary

The Operations Team Lead is responsible for supporting the daily activities of warehouse and logistics operations while providing hands-on leadership and direction to assigned team members. This position helps ensure that daily operational requirements are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

The Team Lead will work closely with Operations Supervisors and other management to coordinate employees, monitor workflow, operate material-handling equipment, address operational issues, and help maintain productivity, quality, and safety standards.

This is a hands-on position and requires the ability to operate a forklift and assist directly with warehouse operations when needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Daily Operations

• Provide daily directions and support to assigned warehouse team members.
• Assist the Operations Supervisor with coordinating daily assignments and workload.
• Communicate production priorities, staffing assignments, and operational expectations to employees.
• Monitor workflow throughout the shift and assist in adjusting based on operational needs.
• Help ensure employees remain productive and assigned tasks are completed accurately and timely.
• Serve as the first point of contact for routine operational questions from team members.
• Escalate significant operational, employee, safety, or quality concerns to the appropriate Supervisor or Manager.
• Assist with training new and existing employees on operational procedures and work requirements.

Warehouse & Material Handling

• Safely operate a forklift and other authorized material-handling equipment.
• Assist with loading, unloading, staging, moving, and organizing materials as needed.
• Ensure materials and products are moved to the correct locations according to operational requirements.
• Support shipping, receiving, inventory, material flow, and other warehouse activities as assigned.
• Verify that materials, equipment, and work areas are properly organized.
• Assist with identifying and resolving material-flow or operational issues that could impact production or customer requirements.

Safety & Quality

• Promote and follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure team members follow established safety requirements and proper work procedures.
• Immediately report accidents, injuries, near misses, equipment damage, and unsafe conditions.
• Monitor work for quality and accuracy and report discrepancies to management.
• Help maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement activities.

Productivity & Performance

• Monitor daily workflow to help ensure productivity and operational goals are achieved.
• Assist with tracking completion of assigned work and communicating status updates to management.
• Identify delays, staffing concerns, equipment issues, or other barriers affecting operations.
• Support corrective actions and operational improvements as directed by management.
• Help ensure customer requirements and production schedules are met.

Documentation & Computer Responsibilities

• Use basic computer systems to review or enter operational information.
• Assist with completing daily reports, production records, inventory information, or other operational documentation.
• Maintain accurate records related to assigned operational activities.
• Communicate operational updates through email or company systems as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of warehouse, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or similar operational experience required.
• Forklift operating experience required.
• Must be able to safely operate a forklift and successfully complete any required company forklift certification or evaluation.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to provide directions and support to other employees.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse or logistics environment.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work scheduled shifts, overtime, or weekends when required by operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Team Lead or leadership experience preferred.
• Automotive logistics or manufacturing support experience preferred.
• Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory, material handling, or production support preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office or warehouse management systems is a plus.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This position operates primarily within a warehouse/logistics environment and requires regular interaction with employees, equipment, materials, and operational areas.

The employee must be able to:

• Regularly stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
• Safely operate a forklift and other authorized material-handling equipment.
• Work around moving equipment and warehouse traffic.
• Work in varying warehouse temperatures and environmental conditions.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Lift and/or move materials consistent with the physical requirements established for the operation.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $25.00 per hour
Approximate Annualized Compensation: $50,000 per year

Annualized compensation is provided for reference purposes and may vary based on actual hours worked, overtime, payroll practices, and other applicable factors.

General Expectations

The Operations Team Lead is expected to demonstrate professionalism, dependability, accountability, and leadership while supporting the daily needs of the operation. The Team Lead should lead by example and work collaboratively with team members, Supervisors, Managers, and other departments to maintain safe and efficient operations.

Additional duties may be assigned based on customer requirements and operational needs.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
