What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Estimator - Civil position at GF Transport?
This position works in-office at our Management Company's headquarters located at 1448 Conner St, Noblesville, IN 46060, USA.
JL Wesley is looking for a Project Estimator with real experience in earthwork and underground utilities.
This role requires the candidate to quantify, build, and price full civil estimates.
What you’ll do:
- Estimating civil drawings and scopes of work
- Mass earthwork (cuts, fills, balancing, haul plans)
- Underground utilities (storm, sanitary, waterline)
- Demolition, site clearing, and erosion control
- Site development packages
- Perform quantity takeoffs
- Review plans and specs
- Build and manage estimates in Trakware Earthworks
- Solicit quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers Develop pricing based on production rates, crews, and equipment
- Identify risks, gaps, and scope issues before bid
- Coordinate with operations to validate approach, assumptions, and crew availability
- Assist with bid strategy and project handoff
- Research bidding opportunities, prioritizing opportunities, and continually meet or exceed project bidding deadlines
What we are looking for:
- 2 years of estimating experience in civil/sitework
Experience with:
- Earthworks or similar takeoff software
- Underground utilities
Strong understanding of:
- Production rates
- Equipment and crew setup
- Means and methods
- Ability to read civil plans independently
- Background with a self-performing contractor is strongly preferred

Pay: $60000.00 - $75000.00 / year
