What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable/Payroll Assistant position at Gettysburg College?
Gettysburg College is seeking a part-time (22.5 hours/week) Accounts Payable/Payroll Assistant. This is a shared position between the Accounts Payable and Payroll offices, reporting directly to the Assistant Controller. One day per week, the Assistant will support the A/P Specialist with invoice auditing and data entry, responding to customer and campus community inquiries, and setting up new vendors. Two days per week, the Assistant will support the Payroll Specialist with weekly payroll processing, including timesheet review, data entry, coordinating printing and distribution of checks and pay statements, and preparing payroll documentation.
Status: Part-Time Support Staff
This is a Support Staff, Part-time position. There are prorated benefits associated with this position: including retirement after two years as well as sick, vacation and holiday leave.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with work experience or continuing education in accounting or bookkeeping required; Accounts Payable and Payroll experience highly preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrated ability to learn new software applications
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a dynamic office environment
- Ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and handle confidential information appropriately
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while adhering to professional office practices
