Gerstell Academy seeks a passionate and energetic Lower School Spanish Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a love for language and culture to join our instructional team. Beginning in Lower School, our Spanish program aims for students to achieve intermediate mid proficiency or higher by grade twelve, preparing them for lifelong success in a global society. At Gerstell Academy, Spanish instruction goes beyond language acquisition-it serves as a foundation for leadership education, character development, and an appreciation of Hispanic cultures.
Duties
- Demonstrate fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that promote language development at the elementary level.
- Foster a classroom environment wh4ere students feel confident to speak, listen, read, and write in Spanish.
- Design curriculum maps that align with developmental needs and language acquisition goals.
- Collaborate with special education teams to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism or requiring early intervention strategies
- Infuse Gerstell Academy's Mission, Motto, and Leadership Principles into everyday teaching.
- Support the growth of the Lower School program and Spanish Department through additional duties as assigned.
- Perform daily responsibilities that may include lunch, recess, and dismissal supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven classroom experience teaching Spanish at the elementary or early childhood level in private or public schools.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development principles for early learners and proficiency in literacy education, math integration, and language instruction.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities while keeping students at the center.
- Familiarity with ACTFL proficiency guidelines is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42, $45,000.00 per year
