We are seeking seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of part-time flute instructor for the 2026-27 school year. The instructor must be available to give lessons during the school day (two/three days a week as the scheduling needs) and available to give after school lessons one day a week. - Instruct, recruit, and retain students on flute and piccolo
- Develop and implement curriculum for flute musicians in grades 4-12 including Upper School Honors
- Demonstrate commitment to departmental engagements including collaborative interaction with performing arts faculty and staff
- Collaborate with Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band directors to ensure student success in ensembles
- Prepare Upper School flute musicians for PMEA district band solos and auditions
- Prepare flute students for ensemble rehearsals, performances, auditions, and a yearly studio recital
- Capability to teach a wide range of ability levels, from basic music literacy to college preparatory instruction
- Organize studio lesson schedules, working with students to set a lesson time
- Collaborate with private lesson coordinator and other instructors on curriculum and scheduling
- Communicate regularly with families and respond to issues involving private lesson scheduling
- Ensure that all rules and policies of the private lesson program are followed judiciously
- Responsible for identifying new program needs and possibilities for expansion as they arise
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in flute performance or music education is required, or equivalent teaching/performance experience
- A minimum of two years teaching experience is required
- Strong work ethic, attendance, and punctuality
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Individual must be organized, and able to maintain a communication around scheduling
