Job Description

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities.

Germanna Community College is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Admissions Onboarding Specialist to guide students through the admissions process, with special emphasis on Health Technology programs and other selective admissions pathways. This role also includes general admissions advising for students in all academic programs. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, student-centered service, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience through a holistic, case management approach. Collaboration with academic departments and student services is essential to supporting prospective, new, and continuing students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a key point of contact for prospective and new students interested in Health Technologies programs, providing clear and accurate guidance on program pathways, prerequisites, and admissions requirements.
  • Assist applicants throughout the selective admissions process, including credential collection, document verification, and completion of required steps to ensure timely application review.
  • Support students from initial inquiry through enrollment using a case management approach that emphasizes communication, follow-up, and personalized assistance.
  • Conduct outreach and participate in recruitment and onboarding events—both virtual and in person—to promote Health Technologies programs and increase applicant engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with Health Technologies faculty and staff, Academic Advisors, Financial Aid, and Business Services to help students complete financial aid requirements, set up payment plans, and prepare for advising appointments.
  • Verify student eligibility and enrollment readiness by reviewing academic plans, domicile status, transcript evaluations, and other admissions criteria.
  • Guide students in accessing and navigating college systems such as myGCC, Navigate, and Lumens, and ensure completion of required orientation and advising steps.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and application status to support compliance, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
  • Coordinate communication between departments to ensure a smooth, student-centered admissions and onboarding experience.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including training on Germanna’s Culture of Care and advising tools, to enhance knowledge, service quality, and student support.
