Basic Function
- The primary function is to ship our product and maintain documentation when doing so.
- The Shipping Coordinator is to be knowledgeable of all Safety, GMP’s, RP’s and other Standard Operating Procedures that affect the Shipping functions.
- Assists the Logistics Routine Facilitator in directing the crew to ensure optimum utilization of equipment and personnel.
- Assist the Production Control group in ensuring satisfaction of customer requirements.
- Advise Material Handlers of location of product for movement and loading. Direct truck drivers concerning loading procedures and Gerdau safety requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring that Carriers comply with Gerdau Safety Requirements while on site
- Assumes responsibility of accuracy of all final shipping documents and shipments leaving Gerdau.
- Assumes responsibility for shipment of a quality-packaged product prepared to the customer specification per the instructions on the Dock Audit.
- Assumes responsibility of accuracy of all incoming Returned Steel and material to be processed from Gerdau Monroe and Gerdau Fort Smith mills.
- Send BOL’s to Accounting for invoicing and Production Control for review and filing.
- Prepares all necessary shipping documents and checks paperwork as well as the product to assure accuracy.
- Physically inspects product shipments to ensure that the product is properly packaged and loaded.
- Visually inspects each load for bent bars and other obvious quality issues.
- Audits the Material Handlers paperwork for location changes as product is moved from process to location or from location to process.
- Inspects and confirms incoming processing material and documentation.
- Updates daily Issues Log.
- Coordinates with other Logistics Coordinators at shift change to assure the accuracy and continuity of shipping activities.
- Maintains adequate inventory of tools, forms, materials and equipment common to the shipping operation.
- Performs cycle count audits as directed by Logistics Routine Facilitator.
- Performs other shipping-related duties as needed or as directed by the Logistics Routine Facilitator.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
