Office of Research Integrity Assurance (ORIA)'s mission extends beyond regulatory compliance. The office provides guidance, education, risk management, and administrative support to help researchers navigate complex requirements while advancing the Institute's research mission.

The Director of Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs to ensure the institute's adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. The Director will provide strategic direction, operational leadership, and oversight of the OCI program, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and training programs. The Director reports to the Vice President for the Office of Research Integrity Assurance (ORIA) and will work collaboratively with various departments to coordinate the OCI program.

The Director of Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs to ensure the institute's adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. This role involves conducting audits, monitoring regulatory changes, training employees on compliance policies, and addressing violations to mitigate risk.

Job Duty 1 -
Develop, implement, and enforce programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Job Duty 2 -
Collaborate with legal and other business teams, as well as external resources, to ensure all compliance-related matters are appropriately understood and enforced.

Job Duty 3 -
Develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures to support organizational goals and regulatory compliance.

Job Duty 4 -
Conduct thorough reviews of contracts, proposals, policies, and business practices to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards. Identify potential risks, assess adherence to applicable laws and guidelines, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Job Duty 5 -
Monitor changes in laws and regulations to update compliance policies and procedures accordingly. Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and industry organizations to stay informed on compliance trends.

Job Duty 6 -
Provide guidance and training to employees on compliance standards, codes of conduct, and ethical practices. Support in leading the development of all compliance strategies, policies, and training, driving a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Job Duty 7 -
Oversee the auditing and monitoring of compliance programs and represent the function on committees as assigned to support in investigating compliance violations, incidents, or complaints and lead efforts to address and resolve issues.

Job Duty 8 -
Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with certifications and licenses.

Job Duty 9 -
Conduct risk assessments to evaluate compliance breach risks, recommend mitigation strategies and implement controls. Continuously update risk management frameworks to align with evolving regulations and best practices.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

• Eight or more years of relevant experience, including four or more years of supervisory knowledge.

Preferred Education:

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Higher Education Administration, related fields, or a law degree.

Preferred Experience:

• 8-10 years of experience in managing a conflict of interest/conflict of organizational commitment program, preferably at an institute of higher education.
• In addition to experience managing a Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment program in higher education, candidates should possess demonstrated expertise in federal research compliance and contracting requirements; policy development; risk management; and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience with sponsored research administration, research security, export controls, procurement, and institutional governance is highly desirable.
• The successful candidate will be able to analyze complex organizational relationships, develop practical mitigation strategies, and effectively advise faculty, administrators, and senior leadership on OCI-related matters.
