The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) offers paid internship opportunities for students interested in gaining early exposure to government operations and public service. As a DHS Intern, you will:
- Assist with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks.
- Assist with special projects that support agency operations and service goals.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and accomplishments to supervisors.
- Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Conduct basic research and compile information to support department initiatives.
- Help prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and other materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential records in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participate in meetings, training, and team activities.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be full-time enrolled in a Georgia high school, technical college, or accredited college/university
- Be at least 18 years old
- Meet GPA requirements:
- 2.5 (high school, technical college, undergraduate)
- 3.0 (graduate students)
- Successfully pass a criminal background check (DHS Policy #504)
- Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively
- Show initiative, professionalism, and a willingness to learn
Compensation
- High School: $10.00/hour
- Undergraduate Students: $12.00/hour
- Graduate Students: $15.00/hour
- IT Students: $18.00/hour
- Law School Students: $20.00/hour
