Job Summary


The student worker will provide educationally beneficial assistance to the Career Center.

Federal Work Study Student Employees are closely supervised by full-time departmental staff. This position will assist with a variety of support duties through close interaction with departmental staff and as needed with other campus departments and/or organizations.

Responsibilities


Assist with front desk operations¿- 40

Will greet guests, schedule appointments, answer phones, and complete other administrative tasks as assigned. Will provide excellent customer services to all who interact with the Career Center.

Assist with resume reviews and Handshake promotion/advising - 25

Will conduct resume reviews and Handshake promotion/advising.

Collect First Destination Survey data - 15

Will collect First Destination Survey Data by contacting GCSU graduates via telephone or email.

Assist with career fairs and other events - 10

Will represent the Career Center by assisting with career fairs and other large events.

Promote Career Planning Milestones completion - 5

Will promote the Career Planning Milestones program and assist with completion campaign.

Attend student assistant meetings and trainings - 5

Will attend student assistant meetings and scheduled office hours. Will participate in designated training days.

Required Qualifications


High School Diploma

Enrolled at GCSU

At least a 2.5 GPA

Must have some work availability between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM at least 2 days a week, Monday-Friday

Any major interested in peer advising, helping professions, and/or customer service roles

Willing to speak in front of groups for outreach opportunities

Other Required Qualifications

Must be enrolled in Georgia College as a full time student.

Must be currently awarded Federal Work Study funds.

Must have a current Federal Work Study allocation award from Georgia College.

Must be able to demonstrate professionalism and dependability. Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary.

General knowledge of office procedures and practices associated with professional settings.

Be awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) through the Financial Aid Office at GCSU for the current aid year. Federal Work Study awards can be confirmed through the student's PAWS account, Financial Aid, then Award Offer tab. Students who are not awarded FWS can contact the Financial Aid Office to see if they are eligible at

This position will work in¿person up to 19 hours per week or up to $3900 an aid year.
