Job Summary
Orientation Leaders are current Georgia College & State University students who assist with welcoming incoming students and their guests during summer orientation programs. They are trained to help create a welcoming, informative, and engaging experience that prepares new students for life at GCSU.
Orientation Leaders support orientation programs by helping with event setup and transitions, leading breakout sessions and small group activities, and assisting with various orientation aspects throughout the day. They share their experiences as current students and help incoming students feel comfortable, informed, and connected.
Orientation Leaders work closely with professional staff from the Office of Admissions under the guidance of the Assistant Director of New Student Programs and are expected to represent Georgia College & State University in a positive and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Welcoming and assisting incoming students and their guests
- Assisting with event setup, preparation, and breakdown
- Leading breakout sessions and smallgroup activities
- Supporting orientation activities as needed
- Sharing accurate information and peer insight with new students
Program Dates and Expectations:
- Summer orientation sessions will take place on June 2, 3, 4, 9, and 11, and July 21, 22, and 23
- While availability is not required for all dates, Orientation Leaders are expected to be available for most sessions
- Training is anticipated on May 14, 15, 18, 19, and 20
The goal of the Orientation Leader program is to help incoming students feel informed, supported, and ready to begin their Georgia College experience in the fall.
Responsibilities
Speaking with current students and families during orientation - 75%
Will be responsible for walking students to breakout academic sessions, checking families in, leading group icebreakers.
Preparation - 20%
Responsibilities include day-of set up (organizing supplies, placing directional signs, checking in families, etc.) and preparation in the weeks before orientation dates (creating packets to hand out to students and parents, making sure survey gifts are ready to be handed out)
Other - 5%
Other duties as needed

Current enrollment as a student at the institution. Please note that you do not need to be taking summer classes to be eligible.
Ability to work a flexible schedule around class commitments.
Proposed Salary
$12.00 / hour
