Job Summary
The Student Worker position in the Office of Financial Aid provides essential clerical and operational support. The student worker assists with day-to-day administrative functions, serves as a point of contact for office visitors and callers, and contributes to a professional and welcoming office environment. This position offers students the opportunity to develop transferable workplace skills including communication, organization, time management, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
Front Office & Customer Service - 40
- Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer and route incoming phone calls; take and relay accurate messages.
- Provide general information about office services, procedures, and referrals.
Clerical & Administrative - 30
- Perform data entry, filing, scanning, copying, and document preparation tasks.
- Maintain physical and electronic filing systems.
- Manage mail distribution and supply inventory as assigned.
Technology & Systems - 25
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Support digital record-keeping and database entry tasks.
Other - 5
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current enrollment as a student at the institution; at least half-time status, which is 6 credit hours.
Other Required Qualifications
Be awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) through the Financial Aid Office at GCSU for the current aid year. Federal Work Study awards can be confirmed through the student's PAWS account, Financial Aid, then Award Offer tab. Students who are not awarded FWS can contact the Financial Aid Office to see if they are eligible at financialaid@gcsu.edu.
This position will work in-person up to 19 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an office setting.
Experience in Customer Service.
Ability to work a flexible schedule around class commitments.
