What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Ministry Director position at Georgia Baptist Mission Board?
Baptist Search Partners is excited to partner with First Baptist Church Brandon to find their next Student Ministry Director
About The Vision
The Student Ministry Director at First Baptist Church of Brandon serves as part of the NextGen team and the age-graded strategist for middle and high school students in the church’s mission to glorify God by reaching Brandon and the world for Jesus Christ. This role is designed for a collaborative leader who can thrive as part of a staff team. The leader’s philosophy would align with seeing FBCB’s Student Ministry through the lens of the Great Commission, focusing on moving students from their early steps in faith to a life of active discipleship and mission.
The vision for this role is to build a ministry where middle and high school students (grades 6–12) don’t just attend programs but are transformed by a contagious faith. The Student Ministry is a pivotal part of bridging the gap between the church and the home.
About The Church
First Baptist Church Brandon is a Bible-believing body known for a warm, "small church" feel despite a large vision for their city and beyond. The church culture is defined by Intentional Community, Engaging Ministry, Multigenerational Growth, and Blended Worship: a vibrant service featuring both a choir and orchestra.
Founded in 1915, FBC Brandon has grown into a dynamic ministry campus whose church facilities encompass over 200,000-square-feet, including a Christian Academy (K-8th grade) and a Ministry Activity Center (MAC). FBCB is currently in a season of high momentum, experiencing significant increases in both attendance and baptisms.
There is a steady stream of guests visiting weekly. As those guests have been assimilated into the life of FBCB, there are plans to provide more space with an updated Welcome Center and major renovations and updates in the Sanctuary. The church needs a visionary leader to mobilize volunteers and ensure every student is known, cared for, and discipled.
About The Opportunity
A more extensive job description will be provided to candidates during the interview process.
Responsibilities
The Student Ministry Director is responsible for leading a comprehensive ministry that evangelizes and disciples students and their families. This ministry has seen tremendous growth growing from 15 to 75 students in the last three years. The role focuses on three primary areas:
Evangelism & Mission
Brandon is a growing suburban community in Hillsborough County within the Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater metro area. With a population of over 114,000, a median age of 36, and 35% of the households including children, Brandon is a thriving community off the Gulf Coast of Florida.
As part of the vibrant Tampa Bay area, Brandon is a centerpiece of regional growth. It’s a community driven by innovation and local businesses. Residents of Brandon enjoy the best of Florida living with a short commute to the professional pulse of downtown Tampa and the world-class, white-sand beaches of Clearwater. Spring in the area brings playoff hockey season, opening day for the Rays baseball team, and the Florida Strawberry Festival.
Brandon has highly rated schools, diverse neighborhoods, a calendar full of community events, and lots of sunshine. It’s an ideal environment for individuals and families alike to thrive. FBCB matches the demographics of their community.
