Pastor Opening – Part-Time/Bi-Vocational
Scarboro Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a part-time (retired/semi-retired) or bi-vocational pastor to shepherd our congregation through faithful preaching, pastoral care, and spiritual leadership.
Scarboro Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist church located on the Ogeechee River in the Scarboro Community between Millen and Rocky Ford, Georgia. Founded in 1854, our church has a long history of ministry in a rural community. We hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and currently average approximately 25-30 in Sunday morning worship.
We are seeking a pastor who will preach God’s Word, love and care for the congregation, provide biblical leadership, and help guide the church in worship, discipleship, evangelism, and outreach. Because this is a part-time/bi-vocational position, we understand the need for realistic and healthy expectations regarding availability, family, and outside employment.
Preferred Qualifications
The candidate should meet the biblical qualifications for pastor/elder found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, and 1 Peter 5:1–4, demonstrate a clear testimony of salvation and calling to ministry, affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and possess spiritual maturity, humility, integrity, and servant leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
The pastor will serve as the primary preacher for scheduled worship services, provide pastoral care as reasonably available, work alongside church leaders, encourage spiritual growth and unity, and help lead the church in fulfilling its mission in the Scarboro community and surrounding area.
