Purchasing Agent

George L. Wilson & Co., the tri-state's number one source for high quality construction equipment and supplies is currently looking for a Jr Purchasing employee. We have been serving the construction industry in Western PA and West Virginia since 1969.

TITLE: Jr. Supply Chain Purchasing Agent

Overview

Jr. Purchasing Agent is responsible for negotiations with vendors for the purchasing of all materials, supplies, equipment, and services used for the development and manufacturing of concrete and construction to help our business grow.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Negotiate purchase prices and delivery terms on products
• Follow-up to ensure that purchased items are delivered as promised
• Keep necessary inventory on hand for customers; anticipate future inventory demands without overstocking
• Have an understanding of what product should be in stock during what season
• Maintain positive working relationships with vendors
• Keep meticulous records on all transactions and submit them to our accounting department monthly for auditing
• Inform vendors of our purchasing requirements and ensure all tasks are fulfilled, from producing new keys to providing maintenance records
• Communicate with warehouse of incoming materials
• Directs the purchase of all product lines and on-stock inventory
• Administer the inventory control and re-buying function
• Negotiates prices and makes purchases of quantity items in relation to the best purchase price, discounts, terms, and delivery
• Expedites stock orders, special orders, and direct shipments
• Review and evaluate special/non-stock orders
• Adjust and solve problems with suppliers, review supplier invoices
• Manage the transfer of product from branch to branch
• Advise Management of vendor promotions, specials, new products, policy changes, etc
• Keep abreast of industry trends, attend trade shows and conventions, or seminars beneficial to company's industry.
• Maintain current price information, product catalogs, and all specification information.
• Review all back orders and expedite appropriately
  
  

Competencies

• Understanding of purchasing processes and inventory stocking models
• Prior knowledge of construction materials
• Working knowledge of inventory systems and willingness to learn the FACTS system
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and negotiating skills
• Reliable transportation required
• Willingness to join our team and be a team player
• Organized, professional, honest and polite are all a must
• Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
• Good time management skills

REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager

HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:00 am -- 4:00 pm

DEGREE: Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or comparable years of experience
