Our Glenner Center in Encinitas, an Adult Day Center specializing in care for those affected by Alzheimer’s and other related dementia's since 1982 is seeking a Program/Activity Assistant. We are a smaller day center serving up to 30 participants. Program/Activity Assistant will assist greeting the participants in the morning as they arrive to the Center, assist with very light personal care, assist with serving lunch and/or afternoon snack, 1:1 activities, and group activities such as exercise, tossing games, music, table games, pet therapy visits, puzzles and crafts. Must enjoy having fun, and smiling and laughing. We are looking for individuals who want to bring some joy and happiness to the participants who have Alzheimer's and other related dementia's and want to feel rewarded at the end of the day.
Currently have openings for Full-time: 40 hrs. per week , 8:45 am to 5:15 pm, M-F. Part time, 4 hour shifts from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm flexible days M - F. No nights, week-ends or major holidays. Major holidays are paid days off. Great job for students needing p/t hours or those who want a Monday - Friday position full-time or 4 hour part-time.
Qualifications
- Experience with the chronically impaired elderly adult.
- Good humor and compassion for elderly
- High school education or equivalent.
- Able to communicate in English written and orally
- Physically able to perform requirements of the position
- Must be able to assist with light personal care and light ADL's as needed
- Capability to properly interact with staff, participants, families and volunteers.
- Ability to comply with State and County licensing regulations.
- Ability to understand and adhere to Glenner Center policies and procedure.
- Team Player a must
- Enjoys playing games, chair exercise, trivia, Bingo/Uno and other activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and organizing recreational activities for residents.
- Engage with seniors in meaningful and stimulating activities.
- Support individuals with ADLs and provide companionship.
- Utilize communication skills to interact effectively with residents and staff.
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure the well-being of residents.
- Maintain a safe and engaging environment for seniors to thrive.

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 17.5 – 17.75 per week
