Job Title: JANITOR
Job Purpose
To perform routine cleaning procedures required to provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place for educational programs to be conducted.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of modern day cleaning methods
Use of cleaning materials and machinery
Ability to follow simple written and oral instructions
Ability to read and write
Ability to get along with his/her coworkers.
Ability to follow safe working practices.
Physically sound and able to lift or move large or heavy objects such as furniture, boxes, machinery, etc.
Ability to climb and use ladders effectively
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of modern day cleaning methods
Ability to follow simple written and oral instructions
Ability to read and write
Good physical health
Reports To: Custodian
Supervises: N/A
Duties & Responsibilities
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
Sweep, mop, scrub and wax floors, using the necessary floor machines such as buffing-scrubbers and wet/dry vacuum machines
Wash walls, windows and woodwork.
Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
Dust, polish, arrange and move furniture and equipment.
Assist in setting up assembly areas, move chairs and tables.
Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
Clean white boards.
Report to the custodian and/or principal any damage to property.
Remain on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the principal.
Set up assembly areas when/where needed as directed by the custodian and or principal.
Assume responsibilities for the opening and closing of the building each school day and determine before leaving that all doors and windows are secured and all lights-except those left on for safety reasons are turned off.
Perform other job related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor or superintendent.
Limited travel to and from meetings may be required.
Supports the George County School District Core Beliefs and Mission.
