We are growing quickly and are looking for talented people who want to grow with us.
Position Overview
GeoProducts is seeking a Sales Engineer to lead the technical sale of our engineered geosynthetics and lining systems. This is a role for someone who can sit on both sides of the table — credible with design engineers, owners, and agencies on the technical details, and just as comfortable with contractors and installers in the field.
You will develop specified, engineered business across containment, water and wastewater, environmental, landfill, mining, and heavy-civil applications — selling geomembranes and HDPE / LLDPE liners, geosynthetic clay liners, geotextiles, geogrids, drainage geocomposites, and erosion-control products — and providing the design and specification support that wins the project before it ever goes out to bid.
This role can be field-based and remote or hybrid, with travel across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic to engineering firms, owners, agencies, and jobsites — we care more about finding the right person than where they sit.
This role is also a natural launch point: as GeoProducts grows its engineered-products platform, the right person will have room to help shape product strategy, vendor relationships, and how we go to market technically.
Responsibilities
As a Sales Engineer, you will:
• Develop and grow specified, engineered business across containment, water and wastewater, environmental, landfill, mining, and heavy-civil applications.
• Sell geomembranes and HDPE / LLDPE liners, geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs), geotextiles, geogrids, drainage geocomposites, and erosion-control products.
• Provide technical and design support — material selection, design assistance, specifications, details, calculations, and submittals — to engineers, owners, and contractors.
• Work to get GeoProducts products specified as the basis of design with engineering firms, owners, and agencies.
• Support contractors and installers in the field with installation, seaming and welding, and CQA (construction quality assurance) coordination, and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Deliver technical presentations, lunch-and-learns, and product training for engineering firms, contractors, and agencies.
• Partner with the outside sales team and the inside sales / bid desk to turn technical opportunities into quoted, awarded, and delivered orders.
• Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors on engineered solutions, pricing, lead times, and submittals.
• Track specifications, opportunities, projects, and relationships in the CRM.
• Represent GeoProducts at industry conferences, association meetings, and trade events.
• Meet or exceed sales, gross margin, and specified-business goals on engineered product lines.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
• A technical or engineering background — a PE (civil, geotechnical, or environmental) and / or CPESC is strongly preferred; an engineering or technical degree is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with geosynthetics and / or lining and containment systems — geomembranes, HDPE / LLDPE liners, GCLs, geotextiles, geogrids, drainage composites, or erosion control.
• Background in manufacturer technical sales, geosynthetics or liner installation, construction quality assurance (CQA), or civil / environmental engineering applied to containment or erosion control.
• Ability to read, interpret, and influence plans and specifications, and comfort with design support, calculations, and submittals.
• Strong technical communication — able to present credibly to engineers, owners, agencies, and field crews alike.
• A hunter’s drive to develop specified, engineered business and grow a territory.
• Willingness to travel the territory for engineer meetings, owner presentations, and jobsite visits.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role is someone who:
• Is technically credible and enjoys solving engineered problems, not just taking orders.
• Can move fluidly between a design engineer’s office and a muddy jobsite.
• Knows that getting specified early is how engineered business is won.
• Takes pride in being the person customers call when the application is complicated.
• Wants to build a specified-products book and a technical reputation in the market.
• Is comfortable with accountability, activity goals, and compensation tied to results.
• Wants to help build GeoProducts’ engineered-products platform, not just maintain a book.
Compensation
This is a base salary plus commission / incentive role with uncapped upside. Given the technical nature of the role and the value the right person brings, compensation will be built around experience, credentials, engineered-product expertise, and the specified business you can develop.
For a candidate who can open engineered opportunities and grow a specified book, GeoProducts is prepared to build a competitive package that rewards performance and long-term growth.
Benefits
GeoProducts offers a competitive benefits package, which may include:
• Health insurance
• Paid time off
• Retirement plan eligibility
• Company-paid tools and technology
• Training and product education
• Career advancement opportunities
• Performance-based compensation growth
