Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with 3 or more years of experience for our Charlotte, North Carolina office. GTA provides geotechnical engineering, construction observation and testing, construction materials testing, and related field and laboratory services. Our team supports clients with practical, technically sound solutions across field, laboratory, and engineering work.
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will contribute to projects that move from subsurface exploration through analysis, reporting, and client-ready deliverables. This role offers the opportunity to support both technical execution and project coordination while working closely with internal teams and helping guide junior staff.
Responsibilities- Provide task support to the Construction Observation & Testing group.
- Coordinate and manage drilling projects and oversee junior staff with management of these projects, as well as visual classification and log preparation.
- Coordinate and review laboratory testing.
- Complete accurate geotechnical exploration reports.
- Perform engineering calculations, including settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, pavement section designs, and slope stability.
- Generate scopes and fees for new projects and prepare complete proposals and budgets.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field of study
- P.E. or EIT is required
- 3 or more years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience
- Experience performing geotechnical engineering calculations in settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, pavement section design, or slope stability
- Own transportation, valid driver's license, and good driving record
- NICET, ACI, and/or other relevant certifications desired
