As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to support process analysis, documentation, and improvement initiatives. We’re looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and ready to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
The hourly compensation range for this position is $18-$22 USD . This is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

You Will
You will:
- Get hands-on experience by documenting and analyzing current manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to implement small-scale process changes and learn how real-world manufacturing works.
- Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
- Collect and organize production data for analysis and reporting—your insights will help drive efficiency.
- Assist in preparing engineering drawings and specifications under supervision.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean principles and basic problem-solving tools.
- Contribute to safety and quality initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
- Follow all safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
- Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.
- Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
- Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (required):
- Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Year of experience: No prior experience required; coursework or projects in manufacturing or process improvement preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Available for 12 weeks during the summer.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles.
- Experience with CAD software or basic engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
