Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide exceptional long-term care to our residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, with experience working in various healthcare settings including long-term care facilities, assisted living, and geriatric care. As a CNA in our facility, you will play a vital role in supporting residents’ daily needs, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity are maintained at all times. Your expertise in medical documentation, patient transfer methods, and specialized care such as Alzheimer's and dementia will be essential to delivering comprehensive, high-quality care.
Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using safe lifting practices such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems and EMR platforms.
- Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or memory impairments by implementing tailored care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during patient interactions.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to identify changes in residents’ conditions and communicate effectively to ensure prompt intervention.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care or phlebotomy when trained and authorized to do so.
- Support residents’ emotional well-being through compassionate communication and engagement in social activities aligned with their needs.
Experience
- Prior experience working in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, or assisted living communities is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated familiarity with medical terminology, patient service standards, and medical documentation processes.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health conditions is advantageous.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate record-keeping and documentation.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or phlebotomy are a plus.
- Exposure to geriatrics, Alzheimer’s care, memory care programs, or hospital environments including ICU or trauma centers enhances suitability for this role.
- Proven ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safe handling practices; familiarity with manual handling techniques is essential.
