Summary of Responsibilities: The Digital Storyteller is responsible for capturing and sharing everyday Geneva College moments through compelling, timely, and culturally connected digital narratives. This role helps drive short-form content for a living and breathing, always-updated StoryHub platform and produces social-first storytelling that connects audiences to Geneva across written, video, audio, and visual formats. .
Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
- Create short-form written stories (approximately 200–300 words) for the Geneva Story Hub, capturing timely campus moments and narratives aligned with editorial priorities.
- Maintain a steady cadence of Story Hub updates to support a living, culturally connected digital storytelling experience. Identify, pitch, and develop everyday Geneva stories across athletics, campus events, student experiences, enrollment & recruitment, alumni moments, and academic life.
- Develop social-first storytelling content (copy, short video, audio snippets, and visuals) that complements and extends Story Hub stories across platforms.
- In partnership with the Editorial Manager, this role is responsible for creating content for institutional social media accounts in line with the social strategy. Serve as a primary user of institutional social media accounts, with access to posting, content uploads, and emergency communication as needed.
- Collaborate with videographer & photographer, designer, and other marketing partners to integrate multimedia elements into storytelling.
- Write quick features, captions, and supporting copy that align with Geneva brand voice and strategy set by the Editorial Content Manager.
- As part of the social media team, meet regularly with team to review performance metrics, engagement tactics and upcoming content calendar schedules to align with editorial calendar and make informed decisions on content creation.
- Supervision:
- Supervise student employee(s) from other areas on occasion to include training, planning, assigning/directing work, coaching, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Must have a mindset of mentoring student employees under supervision. Lead in a way that sets a good example, promotes teamwork, and encourages a positive, efficient work environment.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Open and distribute incoming area mail.
- Monitor and order office supplies for the department.
- Manage departmental requisition orders through the College’s requisition process.
- Follow all established procedures to ensure that confidential student information is protected.
- Adhere to College and Office policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Minimum:
- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: One year of previous marketing, content creation, or social media marketing experience.
- Skill/Abilities:
- Ability to articulate a clear profession of faith in Jesus Christ and the implication of that faith for college marketing work.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work with a computer and mobile phone including applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, photo and video editing tools and an aptitude to learn other software.
- Ability to write social media and marketing copy and to edit and proofread standard English.
- Ability to manage details and keep organized, especially under time constraints.
- Ability to solve problems and handle urgent situations effectively.
- Ability to remain focused, work independently, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to think critically.
- Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
