The City of Geneva is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. This position plays a vital role in protecting our community and the environment by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment facility. Inspect and maintain all wastewater facility grounds and equipment, including lift stations
Maintain management of sludge levels in clarifiers
Document and perform data entry and calculations
Collect samples pertaining to sludge, raw and final effluent, etc.
Monitor alarms, resolve as necessary
Operate thickening and dewatering centrifuges, move/stack biosolids
Respond to emergency on-call as necessary
Assist with snow removal operations
High school diploma or equivalent, with advanced knowledge in biology and complex mathematical equations.
Three years of municipal wastewater treatment experience is preferred.
Candidates must have an Illinois EPA Class D Water Operator Certification, or if not at time of hire, within set time frame specified by supervisor.
Class B CDL is required.
Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.Hours for this position are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The work primarily occurs at our wastewater treatment facility, but there are times when work is performed within the community, in a range of weather conditions. This position is subject to emergency and after-hours callback, primarily on a rotating basis. Due to this, candidates must reside within a 16-mile straight-line radius of the City's boundaries within one year of employment. You can review the residency mapon our website.
The City offers a generous benefit package, which includes ample paid time off as well as competitive health insurance options and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund program (IMRF). The pay range for this position is $34.43 - $46.49 per hour, with an anticipated starting salary of up to $37.45 per hour, depending on qualifications.
