The Business Technology Trainer plays a key role in preparing high school seniors for corporate internships by delivering engaging, relevant technical and professional skills training.
This role focuses on virtual instruction, mentorship, and student development, equipping young professionals with the skills needed to succeed in a corporate environment. Trainers foster a supportive learning environment while helping students build confidence, professionalism, and technical competency.

Student Training & Mentorship (85%)

Instruction & Facilitation Skills
This role involves extended periods of sitting and working on a computer, as well as facilitating virtual instruction. Candidates should be comfortable presenting, engaging students online, and using digital tools to deliver instruction and track progress.

Key Responsibilities
Student Training & Mentorship (85%)
- Deliver engaging, virtual instruction to two cohorts of students during the 8-week Summer Training program
- Facilitate lessons using the Genesys Works curriculum, covering:
- Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Project management fundamentals
- Data analytics basics
- Introductory IT concepts
- Professional skills (communication, presentations, workplace expectations)
- Build strong relationships with students through mentorship, encouragement, and consistent feedback
- Create a positive and structured virtual learning environment that promotes engagement and accountability
- Provide individualized support and coaching to help students grow and succeed
- Assign and evaluate student work (quizzes, presentations, projects) in a timely manner using platforms such as Schoology
- Track student progress and performance throughout the program
- Collaborate with Program Coordinators through weekly check-ins and ongoing communication
- Provide input to support decisions related to student internship placement

Instruction & Facilitation Skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience facilitating instruction and adapting content for diverse learners
- Ability to engage and manage a virtual classroom environment
- Experience providing clear expectations and actionable feedback
- Familiarity with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms
- Experience teaching or working in business technology, IT, or a related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of project management, data analytics, or AI fundamentals
- Familiarity with IT concepts (hardware, networks, operating systems, security)
- Relevant degree, certification, or equivalent professional experience preferred
- Passion for working with high school students

- Ability to build trust and connect with students from diverse backgrounds
