Brief Role Summary

Genesis is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Business Development – Data Center & Critical Infrastructure to lead the expansion of our engineered materials and composite solutions into one of the fastest-growing industrial markets.

This is an opportunity to build and scale an emerging business segment, leveraging our established engineering expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and existing customer relationships to develop innovative solutions for data center power, cooling, and critical infrastructure applications.

With an established presence in the market and an ambitious goal of growing revenue from $1 million to $20 million by 2029, we're looking for an entrepreneurial leader who understands the industry, builds strong partnerships, and can turn market opportunities into sustainable, long-term business.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to accelerate growth within the data center and critical infrastructure markets.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with generator, chiller, switchgear, and modular data center OEMs and their suppliers.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers, engineering teams, sourcing leaders, and strategic industry partners.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams to develop innovative thermal, acoustic, and structural composite solutions, from initial concept through production.
  • Lead efforts to secure approved-supplier status, long-term customer partnerships, and multi-year supply agreements.
  • Identify and develop opportunities within the retrofit and noise-remediation markets for existing data center facilities.
  • Build, manage, and advance a strong sales pipeline, driving accountability for revenue growth and long-term market development.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activity to identify new applications and opportunities for expansion.
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish growth priorities, evaluate market opportunities, and support future team development as the business expands.

What You Bring

  • 10 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or strategic account management within engineered components, materials, or related industrial markets.
  • 5 years of experience selling into data center power, cooling equipment, or closely related critical infrastructure applications.
  • Established relationships with engineering, sourcing, and decision-makers at major OEMs or industry suppliers.
  • Demonstrated success developing new markets, securing strategic customer relationships, and driving significant revenue growth.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop business strategies, manage complex sales cycles, and negotiate long-term agreements.
  • Technical curiosity and the ability to understand and communicate engineered product solutions; experience with composite materials is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Self-directed, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build a business segment and thrive in a high-growth environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% to customer locations, industry events, and Genesis facilities.
