JOB TITLE: Special Education Attendant-7 Hours Per Day Elementary and/or Secondary Building (TBD)
AVAILABLE: 2025-2026 School year
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma required. Associates degree or 60 college credits preferred. In lieu of an associates degree or 60 college credit hours a passing score on the Work Keys, ETS ParaPro Assessment or Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Basic Skills will be accepted.
The Special Education Attendant provides direct assistance to the special education teacher in working with students who need additional help during the school day. This includes helping with behavioral management and health care needs. The attendant may be assigned to work directly with only one student or may be assigned to the classroom / program as a whole.
SKILLS/TRAITS:
Ability and desire to assist special education students with any personal health care needs.
- Experiences working with students with IEPs is preferred.
- Basic first aid training is desirable.
- Ability to work with and maintain rapport with other staff.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, patience and perseverance.
- Prior successful work with school aged students.
- Must be dependable and have a good attendance record.
- Must have the physical ability to perform all assigned tasks.
