Attendance & Family Engagement Liaison

Position Summary

This position supports students identified as at risk of educational failure through attendance intervention, family engagement, and coordination of services that remove barriers to regular school attendance and academic success. The Attendance & Family Engagement Liaison works collaboratively with school staff, families, and community partners to improve attendance, increase student engagement, monitor progress, and implement evidence-based intervention strategies. This position provides supplemental student support services and is not responsible for general school operations or core instructional responsibilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Human Services, Communications, or a related field is preferred. Experience working with students and families, knowledge of attendance laws, truancy procedures, MTSS, student support practices, and community resources, along with strong communication, organization, documentation, and collaboration skills, are preferred.

Student Identification and Attendance Intervention

The Attendance & Family Engagement Liaison monitors attendance and other relevant student data to identify eligible students exhibiting chronic absenteeism or attendance patterns associated with academic risk. The position conducts outreach to students and families to identify barriers affecting attendance and school engagement, develops individualized attendance improvement plans in collaboration with students, families, and school staff, monitors student progress, adjusts interventions based on documented outcomes, and supports successful student re-engagement following extended absences.

Family Engagement and Barrier Removal

The Liaison builds collaborative relationships with families to promote consistent school attendance and academic success. The position connects eligible students and families with available school and community resources that address documented barriers such as transportation, housing instability, food insecurity, clothing, health-related concerns, or other educational obstacles. Family meetings, communication, and engagement activities are designed to strengthen school-family partnerships and encourage meaningful family participation in supporting student success.

Collaboration

The Liaison participates in MTSS, attendance review, and student support meetings; collaborates with administrators, counselors, social workers, teachers, and other appropriate personnel; coordinates referrals to school and community-based services; and assists in monitoring the effectiveness of attendance intervention plans and student support strategies.

Documentation and Compliance

The Liaison maintains accurate documentation of student eligibility, attendance concerns, identified needs, intervention plans, family contacts, referrals, progress-monitoring data, services provided, and measurable outcomes. Records are maintained in accordance with FERPA and applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The position prepares reports demonstrating implementation fidelity and the effectiveness of attendance intervention services.

Additional Information

This position is intended solely to provide supplemental student support services focused on improving attendance, removing barriers to learning, increasing student engagement, and supporting academic achievement for eligible students. Responsibilities are implemented using documented student need, data-informed decision making, progress monitoring, and continuous evaluation of outcomes. Duties may be adjusted to meet program requirements while remaining supplemental to the Academy's core instructional and operational responsibilities.
