Job Description
Genesee Community College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Transitional English to include both ENG100 & ENG101. Students who elect to participate in the program are placed into a designated section of ENG101. Those students also take the ENG100 support class. Both courses (the two sections of ENG101 and the ENG 100 section) are taught by the same instructor and are three credits.
About ENG100 - Introduction to Composition: This course improves basic writing skills: grammar, mechanics, style and organization. Students will gain a higher understand of the basic nature of informative and persuasive writing and library research.
About ENG101 - College Composition: This course concentrates on the rhetorical principles and strategies essential for clear, effective academic writing. Emphasizes the stages of the writing process and the critical thinking skills necessary to create appropriately researched and documented college level prose. Draws readings and models for analysis from a variety of college level sources. Requires students to produce a minimum of 20 pages of writing, excluding exercises and quizzes.

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:
Master's Degree in English is required. Teaching experience in a community college is preferred. Incumbent will be required to instruct in person at the Batavia campus.
