Job Summary
Responsible for oversight of the nursing staff in all areas, as well as to deliver safe, efficient, and age-specific nursing care to patients and families. The essential responsibilities include: direct patient care and assessments, maintenance of mandatory documentation, staff education and development, intake and admission, discharge planning with resource referrals, exceptional customer service, committee and community involvement, scheduling staff to maximize coverage within budget resources, and strong role-modeling and mentoring of positive relationships with patients and customers, as well as peers.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervises the following positions: Manages and directs nursing staff and departments.
Position Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Registered Nurse with current license to practice in Ohio
- Current BLS
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred
- 1-year proven experience in psych and a psych supervisory role.
- Experience with complex medical conditions, preferred
- Certification, preferred
Responsibilities
- Assess/ identify patient care requirements utilizing evidence-based assessment and screening tools.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to develop a treatment plan.
- Promote patients’ independence establishing patient care goals; teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills, as appropriate.
- Assure quality of care; measure health outcomes against patient care goals and standards.
- Resolve patient problems and mentor nursing staff in this process.
- Lead and/or monitor effective crisis intervention.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Serve as a consultant to peers and others regarding complex clinical cases.
- Develop and/or lead improvement projects for nursing practice standards and higher quality patient care.
- Maintain nursing staff records of competencies and educational programs.
- Provide and/or arrange for in-service training for new and existing equipment and/or procedures and develops guidelines.
- Demonstrate effective computer skills that reflect accurate documentation, etc.
- Utilize critical thinking and ability to make appropriate decisions when other nursing leadership is not on-site.
- Utilize hand-off communication effectively. Actively role models effective communication strategies.
- Mediate conflict resolution.
- Teach and mentor others in group communication. Support and lead case conferences.
- Guide nursing staff through change as an opportunity for growth.
- Able to influence others in a positive manner, recognizing differing opinion.
- Provide leadership in the shared governance process throughout the organization.
