RN Supervisor-Nights

Job Summary

Responsible for oversight of the nursing staff in all areas, as well as delivering safe, efficient, and age-specific nursing care to patients and families. The essential responsibilities include: direct patient care and assessments, maintenance of mandatory documentation, staff education and development, intake and admission, discharge planning with resource referrals, exceptional customer service, committee and community involvement, scheduling staff to maximize coverage within budget resources, and strong role-modeling and mentoring of positive relationships with patients and customers, as well as peers.

Supervisory Responsibility

Manages and directs clinical departments, which may include, but are not limited to, nursing, and Staff Education/ Development.

Position Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing
• Bachelor's degree in nursing, preferred
• Current Ohio Registered Nurse License
• Current BLS certification
• One year of RN nursing experience, minimal
• One year of RN psychiatric nursing supervising, preferred

Responsibilities

• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients and families.
• Assesses and identifies patient care requirements by utilizing evidence-based assessment and screening tools.
• Collaborates with other disciplines to develop a treatment plan that reflects patient assessments, goals of patient and family, and functionality.
• Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills, as appropriate.
• Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing department philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, The Joint Commission, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and other governing agency regulations.
• Provides effective crisis intervention through clinical leadership, teamwork, and respect for patient to ensure the best outcome.
• Maintains safe and clean environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, with assistance from unlicensed support personnel.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Hold others accountable for practice deviations, appropriate use of equipment and following procedures to perform nursing functions.
• Provide leadership in the shared governance process throughout the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned and or required.

Working Conditions

Work occurs in a fast-paced psychiatric inpatient setting with patients who may display unpredictable or aggressive behaviors and must use de-escalation skills and follow safety protocols. The role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, occasional lifting or assisting patients and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies while performing clinical tasks.

• Full-time
• 12-hour shifts
• Shift: 7:00pm-7:23am
• Required rotating weekends and holidays
• Shift Differential: $2.00 per hour=7:00pm-7:00am
• Additional $4.00 per hour performance incentive paid out every 6 weeks
