- Site diligence and feasibility
- Customer coordination
- Utility and interconnection management
- Environmental and permitting processes
- Commercial negotiations
- EPC and OEM coordination
- Stakeholder and community engagement
- Development budgeting and scheduling
- Transition to construction and commercial operations
As an early member of a growing team, this individual will play a critical role in shaping Generate’s development processes, customer engagement approach, and execution strategy for mission-critical power infrastructure.
What you will be doing at Generate Capital as a Manager/Director, Development:
- Lead development activities for a portfolio of on-site power generation projects from origination support through COD
- Conduct fatal flaw analyses, feasibility assessments, and development risk evaluations
- Coordinate with customers to understand load requirements, operational priorities, resiliency objectives, and project constraints
- Manage utility interconnection processes, including application strategy, technical coordination, upgrade negotiations, and schedule management
- Lead permitting and entitlement efforts at the local, county, state, and federal levels
- Coordinate environmental diligence, land use approvals, and third-party technical studies
- Manage project schedules, development budgets, and critical path risks
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal investment, engineering, commercial, legal, construction, operations, and finance teams
- Coordinate with external developers, consultants, OEMs, EPC contractors, utilities, regulators, and financing counterparties
- Support customer-facing commercial discussions and participate in contract negotiations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, public officials, utilities, and community representatives
- Travel to project sites and customer locations as needed to advance development activities
- Prepare and deliver presentations to customers, regulators, public boards, community stakeholders, and executive leadership
- Support investment committee materials and development-stage reporting
- Drive process improvements and help establish scalable development best practices across the platform
- Identify and proactively mitigate project risks related to permitting, commercial structure, interconnection, schedule, cost, and constructability
- Ensure successful handoff from development into construction execution and operations

- Unimpeachable integrity and outstanding references
- 6-8 years of experience in power, infrastructure, energy, or related project development roles
- Deep understanding of the end-to-end power project development lifecycle
- Experience developing distributed generation, thermal generation, microgrid, CHP, renewable, or other energy infrastructure projects
- Strong familiarity with utility interconnection processes, permitting frameworks, and power market dynamics
- Experience working directly with large commercial or industrial energy customers is strongly preferred
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to evaluate project risks, timelines, and development economics
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Confidence representing projects publicly before customers, regulators, community groups, and executive leadership
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset
- High degree of self-awareness, humility, and adaptability
- Entrepreneurial spirit with comfort operating in dynamic and evolving environments
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in engineering, business, environmental policy, or related field preferred

Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
