What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator #hiringnow position at General Sheet Metal Works Inc?
The Estimator is responsible for learning how to determine the direct costs (materials, labor, machine time, and overhead) required to produce a part, assembly, prototype, or tool.
You will be trained to interpret blueprints, analyze CAD models, understand manufacturing processes, and develop accurate cost estimates that directly impact company success.
Expected turnaround times:
• Component parts: Within 24 hours of RFQ receipt
• Prototypes: Within customer due date
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in estimating material, labor, and machine costs
• Use software tools to calculate blank sizes, part weights, and cut times
• Calculate coil sizes and material usage
• Review customer drawings to determine manufacturing methods
• Work with Manufacturing Engineers when time studies are needed
• Support selection of cost-effective manufacturing strategies
• Collaborate with Inside Sales, Engineering, and Production teams
• Participate in customer discussions for prototype and project planning
• Gain exposure to estimating dies, weld fixtures, and inspection devices
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
