CAD Engineer
Job Description
As a CAD Engineer at General Refrigeration Company, you are responsible for creating, modifying, and managing detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings used in the design and installation of industrial refrigeration systems. You’ll collaborate closely with project engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure accurate and efficient execution of engineering designs.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D models using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, SolidWorks, or similar tools, throughout the sales and execution phases of projects.
- Translate technical drawings, schematics, and specifications into accurate technical drawings and digital models.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to refine designs based upon feedback and modifications to the project scope or execution.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations and company guidelines.
- Conduct quality checks on completed drawings and models.
- Maintain design documentation, version control, and drawing records.
- Assist in product testing and validation by providing CAD support for simulations or prototypes.
- Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements to enhance performance or manufacturability.
- Conduct 3D scans in the field and process them
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Required Experience
- Associate’s degree in CAD Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience and proficiency with CAD and BIM software and design practices.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) preferred.
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Visual acuity to read and interpret technical drawings and computer screens.
- Manual dexterity.
- Occasionally required to walk, stand, or reach with hands and arms in an office or manufacturing environment.
- May occasionally need to lift or move items up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to travel occasionally to job sites or other office locations.
