General Placement Service is searching for a Contract Surety Bond Manager on behalf of a highly respected, financially strong national insurance carrier known for its disciplined underwriting, strong agent partnerships, and leadership in the contract surety marketplace. This role oversees bond production and underwriting within an assigned territory, ensuring profitable growth, sound risk selection, and strong agency relationships. The Bond Manager will guide underwriting decisions, support marketing initiatives, and maintain compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive bond production by marketing to agencies and developing strong, strategic agency relationships
- Evaluate new and renewal submissions within authority; present recommendations on accounts exceeding authority limits
- Provide high-level customer service while resolving issues between agents, insureds, and internal departments
- Monitor territory profitability, production goals, and market conditions
- Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency in underwriting and rating decisions
- Use underwriting systems and automation to improve workflow efficiency
- Collaborate with agency staff to create cross-sell opportunities and support broader business objectives
- Assist leadership in setting goals for agencies, territories, and the region
- Support strategic initiatives to profitably grow the surety portfolio
- Prepare and deliver presentations, client meetings, agency visits, and job site reviews
- Produce reports, meeting summaries, and documentation for management review
- Travel within the assigned territory (approximately 30%); valid driver’s license required
Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of surety and fidelity underwriting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with agents, clients, and internal teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Bachelor’s degree in a financial or business-related field preferred
- 3–5 years of contract surety underwriting or related experience (credit analysis, finance, accounting, construction, etc.)
- Professional designations such as AU, CPCU, or AFSB are advantageous
Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
