Material Handler (Machine Loader) - 1st Shift (7am - 3pm)

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, this individual will work with all operators to ensure that they bring out the correct material in a timely fashion to keep the machines running or set up as quickly as possible with the least amount of downtime and using the FIFO process to make sure that stock is being rotated correctly.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Clock in upon arrival, also punch into material handling and clock out when leaving GF property.
• Must have a forklift license to safely operate a forklift truck.
• Daily safety check and forklift checklist needs to be filled out completely and correctly.
• At the end of shift, and at both break times the hi-lo must be plugged in.
• Look over the schedule on the machines to determine which materials are needed for each machine and be able to keep 2-3 rolls ahead of each operator, as well as having machine ready for the next shift.
• Keep up with 4-5 machines with materials needed which includes rolls, boxes, cores, and pallets.
• Understand Part Tracker in the Epicor Software.
• Able to print out and use a Job Pick List.
• Able to understand Sales Orders, and Job Travelers.
• When material is taken off machine, put back to the location that it came from or transfer to a new rack location correctly.
• Must have awareness of surroundings and be able to pay attention to details.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or GED and manufacturing experience preferred but not necessary.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and lifting.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
• Must be able to traverse facility on unforgiving surfaces.
• Must be able to work in hot and cold climates and in an environment with various noises.
  
  

Safety Requirements

• Must wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Safety Glasses must be worn while in the production areas.
• When driving the forklift, proper forklift safety rules must be used at all times.
• Must wear work appropriate apparel. No hoodies, open toe shoes or head/earphones.
• Must use proper lifting techniques.
• Must Use proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules for mechanical issues.
• When using chemicals, must replace them in the original container and be labeled to identify the contents inside.
• Must make sure there is at least one person who knows where you are always in case of fire or natural disaster as part of the buddy system.
