4-day workweek, $17–$20/hr — we train!
We’re a small, family-owned company based in Washington, NJ, specializing in commercial, overhead, and automatic doors. We’re looking for a motivated, reliable person to work alongside our lead technician (the owner) on larger projects — from carrying and installing big overhead door panels to setting up roll-up and commercial entry doors.
This role is perfect for someone who’s strong, hands-on, and eager to learn a skilled trade. Experience is a plus, but we’re happy to train the right person.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday workweek; 7am - 3:30pm
- 35–45 hours/week (occasional overtime if a project requires us to stay late and secure a site)
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial, overhead, and automatic doors.
- Safely move and lift large, heavy door panels and related parts.
- Support hardware, seals, track, and mechanism installations, following the lead technician’s direction.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace — including vehicles, tools, and the warehouse.
- Pitch in on general facility upkeep and light maintenance projects (building maintenance, basic carpentry, tool organization, or vehicle upkeep such as oil changes — training provided).
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies on every site.
- Gradually learn and assist with more technical repairs, diagnostics, and low-voltage system installations as skills grow.
Required Skills & Experience
- Moderate handyman or mechanical experience (construction, automotive, self-start, etc.)
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Able to lift heavy materials and work on ladders
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all seasons
- Valid driver’s license (required)
Pluses / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Forklift or scissor lift experience
- Trailer driving experience
- Carpentry or masonry experience
- Welding experience
- Low-voltage electrical knowledge
- Blueprint reading skills
- Ability to research door manuals and execute installations or repairs correctly
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about:
- Access control systems
- ADA compliance requirements for doors
- Commercial door safety standards
Why This Role Has Room to Grow
We are a growing company with a large warehouse, multiple trucks, and plans to expand so operations can run without relying on the owners.
Pay & Benefits
- $17–$20/hour based on experience
- Company truck & fuel card for work use
- All tools provided
- Paid time off
- On-the-job training & professional development
- Supportive, family-run team environment
