Role Summary: The Gluing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and overseeing folder‑gluer and related finishing equipment used in converting printed sheets into finished cartons and packaging. This position will perform setups, quality checks, maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintain production levels by minimizing downtime. The operator ensures that products meet quality specifications and production schedules while complying with company safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Start up and operate machines to run production jobs, monitoring machine performance for safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Read and comprehend the schedule to determine the sequence of production.
- Read and interpret job tickets, work orders, dockets, specifications, including board type, glue pattern, scoring, folding, packing, and labeling requirement.
- Perform make‑ready activities, including: Adjusting feeder, pre‑fold, folding, and delivery sections; Setting glue systems and verifying glue pattern and adhesion; Adjusting belt speeds, guides, backstops, and compression sections.
- Monitor machine performance and quickly troubleshoot jams, misfeeds, glue issues, and other mechanical problems, escalating to maintenance as needed.
- Motivates crew members to ensure quality, efficiency, area cleanliness, safety and SQF standards are followed.
- Lead and provide day‑to‑day work direction to gluing crew members during assigned shifts.
- Complete required production reports, including job start/stop times, quantities produced, waste, downtime, and quality checks, using paper forms and/or electronic systems.
- Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and minor mechanical adjustments as trained and authorized.
- Promptly report injuries, unsafe conditions, spills, or equipment issues to supervision per company policy.
- Perform miscellaneous duties, as assigned.
Safety Policies and Practices:
- Follow all company safety policies, including machine guarding, PPE (personal protective equipment), lockout/tagout, and safe lifting practices.
- Follow all Plant rules, Processes, and Hygiene procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
- Keep work area clean and organized: remove scrap, sweep, and maintain clear walkways in accordance with housekeeping standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is typically required.
- 3 years of experience operating folder/gluer machines.
- Basic mechanical skills required for operating and maintaining finishing equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during an 8‑ to 12‑hour shift.
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull materials and products up to approximately 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
Schedule:
- Full time position; 9:00pm 5:00am (3rd Shift).
- Overtime and weekends based on production needs.
Salary: $24.00 - $28.00/hour base
