POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Software Solutions supports the Director in providing leadership for software development, enterprise architecture, and project management to ensure technology solutions align with organizational goals. This role oversees planning, implementation, and governance of enterprise systems, integrations, and applications while collaborating across various Adventist Technology departments. This includes overseeing projects while focusing on organizational mission and strategic objectives.

- Full-time exempt position with benefits
- Remuneration Range: 92-108% ($87K - $103K annually)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Strategic & Architectural Leadership
- Assesses system architecture needs and performs systems and process improvement analysis; gathering requirements as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director to identify areas for improvement, evaluate enterprise-wide tools and frameworks, and recommend enhancements.
- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise architecture standards, tools, and methodologies, including the evaluation and integration of open-source technologies and solutions.
- Contribute to the development of long-term technology roadmaps in collaboration with technology leadership team, incorporating open-source alternatives and solutions where appropriate.
- Implement governance processes for development standards, cybersecurity practices, and enterprise applications in alignment with departmental strategy.
- Recommends and participates in activities related to the design, development, maintenance, and implementation of enterprise systems architecture standards, tools and methodologies
- Works with Director to determine software development areas for improvement and strengthening, including software and system selection, and business process improvement.
2. Project & Portfolio Management
- Apply structured project management methodologies (Agile, hybrid, or similar) to ensure effective scope, risk, schedule, and budget management.
- Manage partner relationships including vendors, contractors, and contracts, within assigned areas.
- Monitor and report on project progress, outcomes, and alignment with organizational goals to the Director and senior leadership.
3. Innovation & Technology Evaluation
- Research and assess emerging technologies including open-source opportunities, evaluates products and services, and provide recommendations to the Director for potential adoption.
- Lead proof-of-concept initiatives as assigned and evaluate their value to organizational objectives.
- Support enterprise data strategy by ensuring interoperability, security, and effective data governance across systems.
4. People Leadership & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and develop assigned staff to foster collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Promote positive team morale, accountability, and support professional development and growth.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with staff, leadership, contractors, vendors, and global partners.
5. General
- Serves on boards and committees as assigned.
- Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Must maintain a regular and reliable work schedule.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in Computers Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related field required. Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology Management, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive IT/software development leadership experience.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church, as well as of the church structure and organization.
- Must have a good working knowledge of employer’s computer environment.
- Requires good organizational skills in evaluating process and making changes to meet the changing needs of users of services provided.
- Strong people skills in providing advocacy for functions performed and to maintain high levels of communications with subordinates, users, and superiors.
- Must be friendly, courteous, have good communication skills, and be self-motivated with ability to complete tasks with little supervision.
- Ability to perform administrative functions; develop long and short-term plans and programs to effectively evaluate work accomplishments; establish and maintain effective relationships with internal/external personnel.
- Must possess advanced ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in English in oral and written form.
