We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with an electronics background to drive product quality with the supply chain across the entire lifecycle — from new product introduction (NPI) through sustaining production — while ensuring AS9100 compliance, robust quality systems, and continuous improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop new suppliers to ensure product and flow-down compliance with GA-ASI and customer requirements.
- Identify and drive supplier and product improvements based on supplier performance and product compliance metrics.
- Conduct comprehensive supplier audits and on-site inspections to evaluate manufacturing processes and adherence to quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, and fishbone diagrams to identify and address quality problems effectively.
- Identify and implement design or manufacturing changes to enhance quality, producibility, and cost efficiency.
- Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvement projects to improve yield and reduce nonconformance.
- Support and approve First Article Inspections (FAIs).
- Perform on-site or virtual product verification activities (Source Inspection) to ensure product compliance prior to shipment.
- Provide technical support to receiving inspection personnel with the resolution of confirmed and suspected quality nonconformances.
- Serve as a technical quality liaison across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve complex issues and ensure compliance.
Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline and two or more years of related experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Must be able to apply comprehensive knowledge of quality engineering principles, inspection methods, and AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Must be able to analyze complex quality issues and develop creative solutions and clearly present recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively, demonstrating strong leadership skills with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to demonstrate expertise in AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs), new product introduction (NPI), and sustaining production support.
- Ability to apply a sound understanding of inspection methods and have good overall knowledge of computer operations and applications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
- Professional certifications such as ASQ CQE, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. or Certified Quality Manager.
- Experience with special processes, avionics/electronics, complex mechanical assemblies, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
