We have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist/Engineer to join our Applied Sciences and Technologies (ASTech) team within the Agile Mission Systems (AMS) division here in San Diego.

We are looking for a scientist/engineer who enjoys developing new technologies and techniques that solve critical problems, with the ability to assist in rapid prototyping for proof-of-concept demonstrations. In this role, you will support the development of novel sensing capabilities leveraging a wide range of technologies; RF, AI/ML, EO/IR, DSP, EW, etc. The successful candidate will report to and work closely with the Manager of the RF & Signal Processing team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Initiate and develop highly innovative solutions to advanced technical problems
• Perform assessments of candidate state-of-the-art signal processing algorithms
• Develop sensing capabilities leveraging a wide range of technologies; RF, AI/ML, EO/IR, DSP, EW, etc.
• Develop and assess novel communications solutions, including waveforms, networking, and electronics
• Modeling link-budgets to help define system requirements and performance
• Implement Space-time adaptive processing (STAP) techniques
• Perform analysis of candidate designs to determine the impact to subsystem and system performance
• Provide expert guidance and consulting to other staff members
• Assist in the concept generation for, and authorship of, white papers and proposals
• Support supplier and subcontractor evaluations
• Provide technical management of subcontracts when required
• Represent the Company as a technical contact to customers and suppliers
• Performs other duties as assigned or required

Job Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD in data science, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related technical/quantitative discipline from an accredited institution and progressive data science experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, seven or more years of experience with a master's degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
• Proficiency in one of the following languages is required, and familiarity with more than one is desired: MATLAB, Python, C
• Must be a team player with excellent communications skills both verbally and in technical writing.
• Must be able to prepare and conduct detailed technical presentations and reviews.
• Must be customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical problems.
• Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
• Limited travel and extended work schedules may be required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Salary range: 116,480 - 208,505
