Environmental Technician

About the Role:

The Environmental Technician plays a critical role in supporting environmental protection and compliance efforts by conducting field sampling and monitoring activities. This position is responsible for collecting and analyzing water, air, soil, and groundwater samples to assess environmental quality and identify potential contamination. The technician ensures that all sampling and monitoring procedures comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, contributing to the organization's commitment to environmental stewardship. By maintaining accurate records and preparing detailed reports, the technician aids in the evaluation of environmental data to support remediation and compliance projects. Ultimately, this role helps safeguard public health and the environment through diligent data collection and regulatory adherence.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in environmental science or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in environmental sampling techniques including water, air, and soil sampling.
• Knowledge of hazardous waste management and environmental compliance regulations.
• Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate records.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites in Millington, TN and surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as an Environmental Technician or related professional credential.
• Experience with groundwater monitoring and underground storage tank inspections.
• Familiarity with environmental data management software and reporting tools.
• Training in OSHA safety standards and hazardous materials handling.
• Prior experience working in environmental consulting or regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:

• Perform water sampling from various sources including surface water and groundwater to assess water quality.
• Conduct air monitoring to detect and measure pollutants in the atmosphere at designated sites.
• Collect soil samples and analyze them for contaminants as part of site assessments and remediation efforts.
• Manage and monitor hazardous waste and solid waste handling in accordance with environmental regulations.
• Inspect and maintain underground storage tanks to prevent leaks and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Document all field activities accurately and prepare comprehensive reports for regulatory submissions.
• Assist in environmental compliance audits and support corrective action plans as needed.
• Operate and maintain environmental monitoring equipment and ensure calibration and proper functioning.
