We are seeking a Director of Brand Design at Gen — a strong visionary leader who can elevate our global brand design function and build a world-class design practice within our in-house agency. This role will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative visual systems, and contribute to user-centered design experiences that drive impact and reinforce our brand equity across every Gen brand. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners in marketing, product, UX/UI, acquisition, CRM, and sales to shape a unified on-brand creative direction and ensure exceptional design quality across all initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
The annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $200,000k to $230,000k. Base salary is one component of Gen's total compensation package, which includes 401(k) match, health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role.

Key Responsibilities:
Creative Leadership & Strategy
- Define and drive the global brand design vision across all Gen brands, ensuring a cohesive and scalable creative framework.
- Contribute to brand strategies that build and sustain strong, differentiated global brands in partnership with business and marketing leadership.
- Set and maintain creative direction for all design initiatives, ensuring alignment with brand objectives, guidelines, and strategic goals.
- Champion creativity, innovation, and craft — proactively leading by example through concept development, storytelling, and design excellence.
- Lead the ongoing evolution of Gen’s brand design systems & guides, to ensure consistency, scalability, and distinctiveness.
- Oversee brand architecture, ensuring clarity and differentiation across the portfolio.
- Drive the integration of design systems across product, digital, marketing, and experiential platforms.
- Leverage emerging technologies and AI tools to enhance design discovery, efficiency, scalability, and personalization.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a global team of 8–12 designers and creative professionals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture of creativity and innovation.
- Build and evolve team capabilities in design systems, brand identity, digital design, and creative storytelling.
- Partner with cross-functional design leaders to unify design principles and elevate creative standards across the company.
- Foster a culture of feedback, growth, and design excellence.
- Act as a key creative partner to senior business, product, and marketing leaders, driving alignment and collaboration across initiatives.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and high-profile clients to understand business objectives and translate them into impactful creative solutions.
- Influence executive stakeholders with strong storytelling, creative vision, and data-informed insights.
- Support campaign creative, ensuring brand and design principles enhance advertising and marketing work.
- Push boundaries of design thinking by integrating new technologies, automation, and systems that enhance creative output.
- Drive creative problem-solving in real-time reviews, ensuring design solutions advance the brand narrative.
- Ensure the highest standards of creative excellence and quality control across all deliverables by identifying better ways to work and how we can evolve.
- Model adaptability and agility, embracing new trends, methods, and ideas to maintain Gen’s leadership in brand innovation.
Minimum Requirements
- 15 years of experience in design and creative leadership, with a strong focus on global consumer brands.
- 10 years of people management experience, including recruiting, coaching, and developing creative talent.
- Demonstrated knowledge and real-world experience with AI-driven design tools, workflows, and ways of working.
- Proven experience leading brand and experience design initiatives across complex, multi-brand organizations.
- Strong understanding of the interplay between brand design, UX/UI, product, and marketing.
- Demonstrated success in managing high-profile stakeholders and fostering consensus across large organizations.
- Track record of creative problem-solving, strategic storytelling, and delivering business impact through design.
- Experience working globally across cultures and markets.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience within the cybersecurity, fintech, or consumer technology industries.
- Strong familiarity with Figma, Jira, project management, and collaboration tools.
- Experience building scalable design systems and token-based frameworks for digital experiences.
- Active engagement with the design community and awareness of emerging trends in brand, digital, and experience design.
