Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Facilities Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of a 174-bed hospital and its affiliated campus. This position is responsible for managing skilled trades, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and ensuring the physical environment supports quality patient care and hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and utilities.
- Supervise and develop a team of skilled trades staff, managers, and contractors.
- Implement and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety codes, regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA).
- Manage operating budgets, service agreements, and vendor relationships.
- Partner with hospital leadership to align facility goals with overall healthcare services.
- Oversee other support service functions as needed, such as security, groundskeeping, or laundry.
- Participate in planning and execution of renovation and construction projects.
- Promote a culture of safety, service quality, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5 years of management experience in facilities operations, preferably in a healthcare setting
- 5 years of hands-on experience in trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or plant operations
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards and safety compliance
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $121,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
