Trading Systems Senior Engineer
Position Description
NEAM has an opening for a Trading Systems Senior Engineer with 5 years of experience and responsible for the ongoing support, configuration, and enhancement of NEAM’s Investment Trading & Compliance platform.
The role ensures the stability, resiliency, and regulatory integrity of NEAM’s pre‑trade and post‑trade compliance and trading workflows.
The position works closely with Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Compliance, and Technology teams to support and enhance the platform.
The position plays a critical role in NEAM’s migration from an on‑premises Charles River environment to a SaaS platform hosted in Azure, including the reengineering of bespoke automation using modern APIs and supported extensibility frameworks.
Work within a small team to provide day‑to‑day operational support for NEAM’s Charles River Trading & Compliance platform, ensuring high availability and timely issue resolution.
Monitor system health, batch processing, interfaces, and overnight workflows to support trading continuity and compliance obligations.
Remediate and modernize legacy customizations by replacing direct database dependencies with supported APIs and SaaS‑native tools.
Serve as a technical escalation point to vendor for trading, portfolio management, and compliance inquiries related to Charles River functionality.
Partner with Charles River product and support teams to evaluate platform releases, manage upgrades, and onboard new functionality.
Ensure system behavior aligns with documented compliance procedures and supports audit, regulatory, and operational review requirements.
Assist
in root‑cause analysis for compliance events and trading issues, including “why
did this violation occur” investigations.
Participate
in release reviews, change management, and risk assessments related to system
upgrades and enhancements.
Qualifications
BA/BS Degree in Computer Engineering / Computer Science or a related discipline and 5 years of experience.
5 years of experience with object-oriented programming languages (preferably C# or Python) and SQL databases.
Strong understanding of trading workflows, pre‑trade and post‑trade compliance, and security operations.
Proven ability to support business‑critical systems in a regulated environment.
Strong problem-solving skills that apply an analytical approach to diagnosing and resolving complex system issues.
Works effectively across business and technology teams.
Experience supporting Charles River Trading & Compliance System, or a comparable institutional trading/compliance platform highly preferred.
Hands‑on experience with Charles River SaaS migrations or major platform upgrades highly preferred.
Experience working with APIs, system integrations, and cloud‑based platforms highly preferred.
