Color Formulator

Description

SUMMARY

The Color Formulator sits within the Gemini Technical Group, which is comprised of Laboratory, Color, and Quality Control departments. This position is responsible for color matching, batch making, and fulfilling customer orders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work under minimal supervision
• Prioritize and adhere to all safety policies and regulations.
• Learn and utilize 5S principles.
• Color match various coatings (stains, glazes, solid colors in solvent and waterborne products)
• Apply coatings by spray application
• Produce batches, test batches and prepare batches for shipment.
• Support Sales and Service individuals with business based out of the Omro Facility
• Become familiar with:
  • Gemini’s different product technologies
  • Gemini software

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills
• Able to follow instructions and procedures
• Work math problems with percentages and ratios
• Operate Microsoft Office software and be able to learn Gemini business and development software

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma/GED AND
• One (1) year of experience in color matching “by eye” for Wood Coatings OR
• One (1) year of experience with color spectrophotometers and software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work in a chemical laboratory and a dry room environment, which requires standing for 50% or more of the time

Must have dexterity to handle small, delicate components and lab equipment

Must be able to physically operate lab-scale roll-to-roll equipment

Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds

Must be able to pass vision Color Test
